Based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on February 28, 1992 “On the Establishment of New Higher Educational Institutions”, the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 125 of March 11, 1992, and the Order of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 171 of March 20, 1992, Urgench branch of the First Tashkent State medical institute was established. On September 2, 1992, Urgench branch of the First Tashkent State Medical Institute was opened.
According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 31, 1995 and the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic dated June 3, 1995, the branch was added to the Urgench State University. A Medical Center was established at UrSU.
Based on the decision of the Government of the Republic No. 239 dated June 3, 1998, the Medical Center of UrSU was again transformed into an independent educational center. That is, the Urgench branch of the First Tashkent State Medical Institute was established.
Based on the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated July 19, 2005 “On the establishment of Tashkent Medical Academy” No. PD-3629 and the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 178 dated July 29, 2005, in order to improve the organization of training of highly qualified medical personnel and increase its quality Tashkent Medical Academy was established on the basis of the first and second Tashkent State Medical Institutes. Urgench branch of the First Tashkent State Medical Institute was renamed Urgench branch of Tashkent Medical Academy.
“The mission of the Urgench branch of the Tashkent Medical Academy is to preserve, strengthen and improve the health of the population of the Republic of Uzbekistan and in the international arena through the dissemination and application of advanced medical knowledge and principles in the preparation of a competent specialist in the healthcare system, achieving excellence in the field of medical science in accordance with the requirements of the national and global health, implementation of the social partnership model in the interests of society and the state.The university strives to serve the benefit of humanity by training and nurturing a generation of intelligent, emotionally mature healthcare professionals with critical thinking.”
The vision of the Urgench branch of the Tashkent Medical Academy is to implement educational programs of higher medical education (undergraduate, clinical residency, master’s, postgraduate) at the UF TMA, which is continuously developing on the modern principles of the academic system of healthcare and science, through the formation of a developmental, practice-oriented innovative environment , which brings together professionals inspired by a common mission and sharing high values to generate, transmit and use knowledge about health and for the sake of people’s health.
